Target intelligence / Profile preview

Cdc42 effector protein 3 (CDC42EP3)

Target
CDC42EP3
Molecular classification
Cdc42 effector protein family, CRIB domain-containing protein, actin cytoskeleton regulator
01

Overview

Cdc42 effector protein 3 is a member of the Borg (binder of Rho GTPases) family and contains a CRIB domain, enabling it to bind to and regulate CDC42, a small Rho GTPase important in actin cytoskeleton dynamics. The protein is implicated in actin filament assembly, cell shape changes, and formation of pseudopodia, acting as a downstream modulator of CDC42 signaling. It interacts with CDC42 and RHOQ, and has been linked to cancer progression, notably gastric cancer, through its role in cytoskeletal reorganization. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing, and a pseudogene is present on chromosome 19
