CDH2 antisense RNA 1 (CDH2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene transcribed in the antisense direction relative to the CDH2 (N-cadherin) gene. While specific functional studies on CDH2-AS1 are limited, antisense long non-coding RNAs typically regulate the expression of their sense partner gene (in this case, CDH2), potentially affecting RNA stability, translation, or chromatin state by acting in cis (on the paired locus) or trans (on other loci). CDH2 (N-cadherin) has established roles in cell adhesion, signaling, and disease, notably in neurodevelopment and cancer, suggesting that regulatory changes at the CDH2-AS1 locus may influence similar pathways.
