Overview

CEA cell adhesion molecule pseudogene 10 (CEACAMP10) is a human pseudogene belonging to the carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule (CEACAM) family, located on chromosome 19q13.31. Unlike functional members of the CEACAM family, CEACAMP10 is considered a pseudogene, meaning it does not encode a protein product and is not believed to exert known biological activity. Pseudogenes often represent evolutionary remnants of once-functional genes and may have some regulatory or evolutionary roles, but CEACAMP10 is not currently recognized as a functional receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target. It shares sequence similarity with functional CEACAM genes but lacks the capacity to produce protein or participate in known cell adhesion or signal transduction pathways. CEACAMP10 is not used as a biomarker, is not associated with therapeutic intervention, and has no linked disease roles or safety issues.
