Overview
Cell death inhibitors are molecules or proteins that prevent or delay programmed cell death (apoptosis). Key families include Inhibitor of Apoptosis Proteins (IAPs) and Bcl-2 family proteins. IAPs inhibit caspases, while anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 members block mitochondrial cytochrome c release. Viral inhibitors like crmA also target caspases. These inhibitors are dysregulated in diseases like cancer, making them therapeutic targets.
