Cell division cycle associated 4 pseudogene 1 (CDCA4P1) is a processed pseudogene located on chromosome 6. It was formed via retrotransposition from the CDCA4 gene, meaning that CDCA4 mRNA was reverse-transcribed and inserted at this new genomic location without its original regulatory elements. Unlike its parental gene, which encodes a protein involved in cell cycle regulation, CDCA4P1 is not known to produce any functional protein or to play a direct role in cell signaling, cell growth, or disease. Pseudogenes such as CDCA4P1 may occasionally act as non-coding RNAs that can regulate gene expression, but no such function is documented for CDCA4P1. There is currently no evidence linking CDCA4P1 to disease, drug action, or clinical phenotypes, and it is generally not considered a therapeutic target.
