Cell division cycle associated 4 pseudogene 2 (CDCA4P2) is a processed pseudogene—a non-functional segment of genomic DNA that arises as a retrocopy (reverse transposed copy) of the functional CDCA4 gene. Pseudogenes like CDCA4P2 are widely distributed in the genome and typically lack protein-coding capacity due to disruptive mutations, absence of regulatory elements, or truncation. They do not give rise to functional proteins and generally do not play a direct role in physiological or pathological processes. CDCA4P2 is annotated in gene databases such as NCBI Gene (100129348), Ensembl (ENSG00000224466), and HGNC (49771), but has no documented function, therapeutic relevance, or disease association. Its only biological context is as a genomic fossil derived from the parent CDCA4 gene through the process of retrotransposition.
