The cell division cycle associated 8 pseudogene (CDCA8 pseudogene, ENSG00000229762, LOC100420540) is a non-protein-coding genomic element located on chromosome 7[9]. It shares sequence similarity with CDCA8, a gene encoding a key protein of the chromosomal passenger complex involved in regulating mitosis and cell division[1]. However, as a pseudogene, it lacks the ability to encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes were traditionally viewed as non-functional "junk" DNA, but increasing evidence suggests some pseudogenes may exert regulatory roles at the RNA level, such as acting as competitive decoys for microRNAs or generating non-coding RNAs that influence related protein-coding genes[2][6][10]. There is currently no established evidence linking this particular pseudogene to specific biological or pathological processes. It is not a therapeutic target and has no known role as a biomarker or direct participant in disease[1][5][9].
