It participates in chromosome segregation and may function as a midzone factor in mitosis[3]. CDCA4 is abnormally expressed in several cancers, including Wilms tumor, breast cancer, and ovarian cancer, where it drives tumor growth by activating the AKT/mTOR pathway and promoting cell proliferation, while inhibiting apoptosis[2][3]. Knockdown of CDCA4 reduces proliferation and increases apoptosis, suggesting its importance as a candidate therapeutic target and biomarker[2].
