The cell membrane receptor for C-peptide is a putative GPCR that mediates the biological effects of C-peptide. While its exact molecular identity remains unknown, evidence supports its existence based on stereospecific binding, nanomolar affinity, and activation of downstream signaling pathways. Activation results in enhanced blood flow, improved nerve conduction velocity, increased Na+/K+-ATPase activity, and reduced oxidative stress and inflammation. It is considered a therapeutic target for diabetic complications.
