Overview

Cellular communication network factor 3 (CCN3), also known as NOV, is a small secreted matricellular protein and member of the CCN family of regulatory proteins, characterized by multi-domain structure and association with the extracellular matrix. CCN3 regulates diverse cellular processes such as proliferation, adhesion, migration, differentiation, angiogenesis, and survival, largely through direct interactions with integrins, Notch, and other signaling molecules. It plays critical roles in development, stem cell regulation, cartilage and bone homeostasis, vascular pathophysiology, and tumor biology. Pathological CCN3 signaling is associated with cancer progression and metastasis, vascular diseases, and inflammatory or fibrotic conditions.
