Cellular DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is the fundamental information-carrying molecule in all living cells. It stores the genetic instructions required for the development, functioning, growth, and reproduction of organisms. These instructions are encoded within sequences of four types of nitrogenous bases: adenine (A), thymine (T), cytosine (C), and guanine (G).
