Overview

Cellular immunity induction refers to the process by which the immune system activates cellular (cell-mediated) immune responses, principally involving T lymphocytes, in response to an antigen. Unlike humoral immunity, which is mediated by antibodies, cellular immunity relies on the activation of cytotoxic T-lymphocytes, helper T cells, antigen-presenting cells (such as dendritic cells), and associated cytokines. This induction is essential for defending against intracellular pathogens (e.g., viruses, certain bacteria) and cancer cells, as well as for the efficacy of many vaccines[1][2][4]. Key indicators of a successful cellular immunity induction include the activation of CD8+ cytotoxic T cells, CD4+ helper T cells, and secretion of cytokines like interferon-gamma (IFN-γ)[4]. Methods to enhance cellular immunity include the use of specific vaccine adjuvants or delivery platforms (e.g., mRNA vaccines) that promote strong T cell responses[4]. However, "cellular immunity induction" itself is a process, not a druggable protein, receptor, or enzyme.
