CNTLN
Molecular classification

Overview

Centlein is a microtubule-associated protein involved in maintaining the stability of microtubules and supporting centrosomal cohesion by acting as a molecular link between other centrosomal proteins such as C-Nap1 and CEP68[1][2]. It binds directly to microtubules via a coiled-coil domain and is required for correct centriole-centriole cohesion and recruitment of components to the centrosome[2]. Centlein localizes to the cytosol, nucleoplasm, and microtubule organizing center, showing co-localization with gamma-tubulin especially during cell cycle phases associated with centrosome function[5]. It is implicated in processes such as neurite formation and has been associated with certain developmental disorders, but it is not characterized as a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor[2][1][3].
