The Central and Peripheral Nervous System (CNS and PNS) constitutes the complex network of neurons and glial cells that regulates bodily functions and responses to the environment. The CNS, comprising the brain and spinal cord, serves as the primary integration center for processing information (StatPearls, 2023). The PNS consists of the nerves and ganglia outside the brain and spinal cord, connecting the CNS to limbs and organs to facilitate motor and sensory communication (NIH, 2024).
