Centromere protein K (CENPK) is a protein component of the centromeric complex, required for the assembly and function of the kinetochore, which attaches spindle microtubules to chromosomes during mitosis. Through coordinating with other centromeric proteins, CENPK ensures accurate chromosome segregation, mitotic progression, and cell proliferation.
