Overview

Centrosomal protein 43 (CEP43), also known as FGFR1 oncogene partner (FGFR1OP or FOP), is a hydrophilic centrosomal protein that plays a critical role in anchoring microtubules to centrosomes and is required for ciliation[1][3][10][11]. A t(6;8)(q27;p11) chromosomal translocation fusing CEP43 (FGFR1OP) to fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) is implicated in certain myeloproliferative disorders[1][5]. Additionally, alterations in CEP43 are associated with immune-mediated diseases such as Crohn’s disease, Graves’ disease, and vitiligo[1]. No drugs are currently known to target CEP43 directly, and it is not generally considered a classical therapeutic target (e.g., receptor, enzyme, transporter)[1][10].
