Centrosomal protein 55 (CEP55) is a microtubule-associated protein that plays a critical role in the final stages of cytokinesis by controlling midbody structure and mediating successful cellular abscission[1][5]. CEP55 localizes to the centrosome during interphase and relocates to the midbody during cytokinesis, where it recruits ESCRT-III machinery necessary for daughter cell separation[3][5]. It acts as a scaffold, facilitating membrane fusion at the abscission site, and is regulated through phosphorylation events.
