CEP295 N-terminal-like protein (CEP295NL) is a predicted human protein that shares similarity to the N-terminal region of the centrosomal protein CEP295[1][3][4]. While CEP295 is well characterized and plays a key role in centriole biogenesis, centrosome assembly, cell cycle progression, and ciliogenesis[2][6], the exact biological function of CEP295NL remains largely uncharacterized and is inferred primarily from its sequence homology and predicted subcellular localization[3][4]. The protein is predicted to bind microtubules and participate in centriole biology, possibly contributing to centrosome or cilium function, but evidence of a clear pathological, mechanistic, or therapeutic role is lacking[3][4][7]. CEP295NL is located on chromosome 17 (17q25.1)[1] and is known by several alternative names including KIAA1731NL and DDC8[1][3][4][5][7].
