Overview
Cerebellar degeneration-related antigen 1 (CDR1) is a human protein encoded by the *CDR1* gene. It is known primarily as an autoantigen, with autoantibodies against CDR1 found in patients with **paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration**—a rare neurodegenerative disorder often associated with cancer. The protein is expressed in a variety of tissues, including the central nervous system, epidermis, and dermis. While it is implicated as a biomarker for paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration and possibly other paraneoplastic syndromes, CDR1 is not considered a direct therapeutic target as there are no drugs known to act on it, and its specific biological function remains largely unclear[1][2][4][5].
