CERS3 antisense RNA 1 (CERS3-AS1)

Target
CERS3-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA, lncRNA, Antisense RNA
01

Overview

CERS3 antisense RNA 1 (CERS3-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene classified as an antisense transcript relative to the protein-coding CERS3 gene on chromosome 15. It does not produce a protein but may regulate the expression of CERS3 or other genes through RNA-RNA interactions or chromatin modifications. While lncRNAs are increasingly recognized for their diverse regulatory roles in gene expression, cellular proliferation, apoptosis, and migration, specific functions or mechanistic details for CERS3-AS1 remain largely uncharacterized in the current literature. There are no known drugs that target this RNA, nor is it considered a therapeutic target, biomarker, or source of major safety concerns at present.

02

Mechanism of action

Not applicable; no known drug mechanism for this lncRNA

03

Biological functions

Regulation of gene expression (by antisense mechanism)Possibly involved in cell proliferation, apoptosis, and migration (by analogy to functions of other lncRNAs and data from gene summary)
04

Disease associations

Other (Potentially regulates disease states via modulation of CERS3 or cellular processes; not directly implicated as a major driver in specific pathologies)
