Target intelligence / Profile preview
CFAP58 antisense RNA 1 (head to head) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed in a divergent (head-to-head) orientation from the CFAP58 protein-coding gene locus. As a divergent lncRNA, it is produced from a genomic region adjacent to and transcribed in the opposite direction of its nearby coding gene. Divergent lncRNAs frequently function in the regulation of gene expression, sometimes by coordinating the epigenetic status or transcriptional activity of their neighboring protein-coding genes. While some divergent lncRNAs have demonstrated regulatory roles in development or disease, there is currently no specific evidence for CFAP58-AS1 as a therapeutic target, direct disease marker, or pharmacologic target. Its known aliases reflect its head-to-head/antisense relationship to CFAP58 and proximity to CCDC147, following standard lncRNA naming conventions[3][1]. No evidence indicates CFAP58-AS1 is a conventional "target" for therapeutics (i.e., not a protein, receptor, enzyme, etc.) or that any drugs act directly on it. No published mechanism of action, safety, or biomarker information is available for this RNA. The function and disease associations of CFAP58-DT/CFAP58-AS1 remain unclear; this is common for uncharacterized or recently annotated lncRNAs. If detailed experimental support, functional characterization, or disease linkage is required, none is available as of current literature[3][1].
