CFAP97D1 antisense RNA 1 is a predicted long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), transcribed antisense to the CFAP97D1 gene, located on human chromosome 17. There is no published experimental characterization or disease link for CFAP97D1-AS1; it should not be confused with the protein-coding gene CFAP97D1, which encodes a protein critical for sperm flagellar structure and function, exclusively expressed in the testis, and is required for male fertility in mammals[1][3]. Loss of CFAP97D1 leads to structural defects in sperm flagella and impaired sperm motility (asthenozoospermia), but these findings do not extend to the antisense transcript.
