Overview

Chaperonin containing TCP1 subunit 6 pseudogene 3 (CCT6P3) is annotated as a pseudogene homologous to the CCT6 subunit, one of the eight subunits that compose the heterooligomeric molecular chaperonin complex known as chaperonin containing TCP1 (CCT; also called TRiC). Unlike the protein-coding gene CCT6A, which participates in the folding of cytoskeletal proteins and plays diverse roles in cell cycle and cancer biology, CCT6P3 does not encode a functional protein product and is thus not itself a therapeutic target, enzyme, receptor, or transporter. Its biological function—if any—has not been elucidated, and it is not associated with known drug interactions, biomarker roles, or disease mechanisms. As a pseudogene, CCT6P3 is generally not considered a valid therapeutic target and is functionally distinct from its protein-coding relatives. Any reference to it as a drug target, biomarker, or disease-related entity would be incorrect.
