Chaperonin containing TCP1 subunit 7 pseudogene 1 (CCT7P1) is a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional segment of DNA that resembles the functional CCT7 gene but does not encode an active protein. CCT7P1 is sometimes also referred to as CCT7-2P or chaperonin containing TCP1, subunit 7 (eta) pseudogene 1. Unlike the protein-coding CCT7, which is a subunit of the molecular chaperone complex TRiC (TCP1 ring complex) and is involved in ATP-dependent folding of key cytoskeletal proteins such as actin and tubulin, CCT7P1 does not produce a functional protein and is not involved in any recognized biological processes, disease mechanisms, or drug interactions[1][2][6][7][8].
