Charged multivesicular body protein 7 (CHMP7) is an ESCRT-III-like protein essential for endosomal sorting, multivesicular body (MVB) assembly, and membrane dynamics in eukaryotic cells[1][2][3][4][5][7]. It possesses both N-terminal and C-terminal SNF7 domains that enable interaction with other ESCRT-III components, such as CHMP4 and LEM2, facilitating membrane bud neck shearing, vesicle release, and nuclear envelope sealing after mitosis[5][7]. CHMP7 is involved in protein degradation, membrane repair, autophagy, and is emerging as a biomarker and therapeutic target in cancer, neurodegeneration, and viral infection research[2][3][7].
