Overview

CHEK2 pseudogene 3 (CHEK2P3) is one of several duplicated non-functional segments in the human genome that resembles exons 10–14 of the CHEK2 gene, which encodes the checkpoint kinase 2 protein. CHEK2P3 itself does not encode a functional kinase or have any established biological or therapeutic role[3]. It is not a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or functional protein, but may complicate genetic analysis due to its high sequence similarity with the functional CHEK2 gene. Some sources report eight duplicated regions for CHEK2 exons 10–14 as pseudogenes (CHEK2P1–CHEK2P8), none of which are functional[3].

02

Biological functions

None (pseudogenes generally do not produce functional proteins)
03

Disease associations

None directly; CHEK2 pseudogenes do not have well-established disease roles
