CHEK2 pseudogene 7 (CHEK2P7) is a genomic sequence on human chromosome 7 that is homologous to the functional CHEK2 gene, but it does not encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes such as CHEK2P7 derive from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and lack the regulatory elements or intact coding sequence necessary to yield a protein product. There is no evidence or peer-reviewed reporting indicating that CHEK2P7 is a receptor, enzyme, or other targetable protein. Its presence is notable in genomic analyses because of potential sequence similarity interference during genetic studies or PCR-based assays, but it has no established role in cellular function, disease, or therapeutics[5].
