Overview

Chemo-attractant Receptor-Homologous Molecule on T-helper-2 Cells (CRTH2), also known as GPR44 or DP2, is a G protein-coupled receptor primarily expressed on Th2 cells, eosinophils, basophils and a subset of monocytes. It is activated by prostaglandin D2 (PGD2), which is released during allergic responses. CRTH2 mediates chemotaxis of these cell types and promotes the production of Th2-associated cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13), playing a crucial role in the pathogenesis of asthma, allergic rhinitis, and other type 2 inflammatory disorders. Antagonists of CRTH2 are being explored as potential therapeutic agents for these conditions.
