Chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 10 (CXCL10)

Target
CXCL10
Molecular classification
Chemokine, Cytokine, Secreted protein
01

Overview

CXCL10 is an inflammatory chemokine secreted by various cell types in response to interferon-gamma (IFN-γ). It plays a crucial role in recruiting and activating immune cells, particularly T cells, to sites of inflammation or infection. Its primary receptor is CXCR3, and its signaling leads to a variety of cellular responses, including cell migration, apoptosis, and angiogenesis inhibition. CXCL10 is implicated in numerous diseases, including viral infections, autoimmune disorders, and cancer, making it a potential therapeutic target.

02

Mechanism of action

Binding to CXCR3 activates G-protein-mediated signaling pathways, leading to downstream effects like phospholipase C activation, increased intracellular calcium, actin cytoskeleton reorganization, and cell migration/activation/differentiation/apoptosis.
