Chemokine receptor 8 (CCR8) is a class A G protein-coupled receptor that binds to chemokines such as CCL1 and CCL8. It plays a role in monocyte chemotaxis, thymic cell apoptosis, and T cell positioning. CCR8 is highly expressed on tumor-infiltrating regulatory T cells (Tregs) and facilitates their recruitment to tumors, contributing to immunosuppression. It is a therapeutic target for cancer immunotherapy and autoimmune diseases.
Agonist or antagonist binding to CCR8 modulates downstream signaling pathways, affecting immune cell migration and function, particularly that of Tregs.
