CHFR divergent transcript (CHFR-DT)

CHFR-DT
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA, lncRNA, Divergent transcript

Overview

CHFR divergent transcript (CHFR-DT) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the promoter region of the CHFR gene in the antisense direction. Divergent transcription, which gives rise to such non-coding RNAs, is a widespread phenomenon in mammalian genomes and is associated with promoters of genes involved in transcriptional regulation and development. These transcripts typically have low or no protein-coding potential and may contribute to local chromatin structure or fine-tuning of gene expression, although their specific biological roles—especially for CHFR-DT—are poorly understood. There is no evidence that CHFR-DT has direct clinical or pathological significance, nor is it currently a therapeutic target.
