Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-modified T cells are genetically engineered immune cells designed to recognize and attack cancer cells by targeting specific tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) on their surface. These CAR-T cells are engineered to detect and respond to ultralow-density TAAs—antigens present at very low levels on tumor cell surfaces. These specialized CAR-Ts become activated, proliferate, secrete cytokines/interleukins/growth factors, and exert cytotoxic effects against the recognized cell population upon binding, even at ultralow densities.
