The **CHKA divergent transcript (CHKA-DT)** is annotated as a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) or divergent transcript produced in an antisense direction from the CHKA (choline kinase alpha) gene promoter. Such divergent transcripts arise from bidirectional transcriptional activity at gene promoters and have been observed throughout the mammalian genome. In many cases, these RNAs are unstable and rapidly degraded, but some persistent species have roles in transcriptional regulation or chromatin modification. Divergent lncRNAs or antisense RNAs are often associated with promoters of genes involved in transcriptional regulation and development; their specific biological and pathological functions, however, require further experimental validation. No evidence supports CHKA-DT as a functional protein, enzyme, receptor, transporter, or therapeutic target.
