Target intelligence / Profile preview
CHP1 pseudogene 1 (CHP1P1) is a presumed pseudogene related to the Calcineurin like EF-hand protein 1 (CHP1) gene. Pseudogenes are nonfunctional sequences similar to functional genes, often arising from gene duplication or retrotransposition. To date, there is no evidence that CHP1P1 encodes a protein, has a therapeutic relevance, or is implicated in human disease. Pseudogenes sometimes play regulatory roles by influencing the expression of their "parent" genes or through noncoding RNA mechanisms, but this has not been documented for CHP1 pseudogene 1 specifically[2].
