Chromobox 1 pseudogene 2 (CBX1P2) is a genomic pseudogene in humans, sharing sequence similarity with Chromobox homolog 1 (CBX1) but lacking evidence of protein encoding or biological function. Pseudogenes like CBX1P2 are often remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition and do not produce functional protein products. In research databases, CBX1P2 is annotated as a non-functional element without known regulatory or pathological roles. CBX1P2 is not a functional or canonical therapeutic target. It should not be used as a representative molecule for drug discovery, disease association, or biological pathway analysis. For relevant molecular targets, refer to "Chromobox homolog 1 (CBX1)" (CBX1), which is a member of the heterochromatin protein family, functions in chromatin binding and epigenetic regulation, and is sometimes associated with disease.
