Target
CDY11P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Chromodomain-containing (family association via sequence homology)

Overview

Chromodomain Y-linked 11 pseudogene (CDY11P) is a noncoding genetic element on the human Y chromosome classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is homologous to a functional gene but carries mutations that prevent it from encoding a functional protein[1][7]. It belongs to the group of Y-linked chromodomain pseudogenes, homologous to chromodomain-containing proteins involved in chromatin regulation but does not carry out this function itself[7]. Pseudogenes like CDY11P can impact gene expression through regulatory RNA mechanisms—acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), microRNA decoys, or, rarely, generating regulatory RNAs[2][6][4]. There are currently no known drugs, therapeutic applications, or disease biomarkers associated with this pseudogene, and it is not considered a therapeutic target. Its name may sometimes appear in gene or pseudogene cataloging but it does not play a direct role in normal physiological processes or disease as a protein or classical molecular target.

Biological functions

No protein-coding function; may act as a competitive endogenous RNA or have regulatory RNA roles by analogy with other pseudogenes
03

Disease associations

Other (currently no direct disease association established; general pseudogene regulatory possible implications in cancer or male infertility via gene expression modulation[2][6][7])
