Overview

Chromodomain Y-linked 20 pseudogene (CDY20P) is a pseudogene that does not encode a functional protein product[2][4]. It is related to the chromodomain Y-linked (CDY) gene family, which encodes proteins involved in chromatin organization, but CDY20P itself is a noncoding genomic element that likely arose via gene duplication or retrotransposition and subsequent loss of coding capacity[2][3][4]. Unlike protein-coding targets, pseudogenes like CDY20P may participate in the regulation of gene expression at the RNA level, for example by acting as competing endogenous RNAs or as sources of regulatory non-coding RNAs, but there is no direct evidence for such a function for CDY20P specifically[6][9]. It is not considered a therapeutic target, nor are there known drugs, biomarkers, or specific disease associations directly involving CDY20P[2][4][6].
