Chromodomain Y-linked protein 2B (CDY2B) is a testis-specific protein encoded by an intronless gene on the Y chromosome that is expressed predominantly in late spermatids[3][4]. It possesses a chromodomain, which mediates chromatin binding, and a histone acetyltransferase catalytic domain, supporting a role in chromatin remodeling and gene repression during spermatogenesis[3][4]. CDY2B likely facilitates chromatin reorganization required for histone-to-protamine replacement, a critical process in sperm maturation. While chromatin modifying activity is well-described in this family, CDY2B itself is not recognized as a typical therapeutic target or a validated disease biomarker[3][4]. Two nearly identical functional copies exist on the Y chromosome, and related pseudogenes are also present[3][4].
