Overview

Chromosome 10 open reading frame 67 (C10orf67) is an uncharacterized human protein encoded by the C10orf67 gene, located at 10p12.2. It produces a mitochondrial protein of approximately 551 amino acids, with a predicted function in the mitochondrial matrix driven by an N-terminal signal peptide. The protein exhibits moderately broad tissue expression, with notable suppression in airway epithelial cells exposed to interleukin-13. Although the precise biological function is unknown, sequence variants in C10orf67 are associated with increased risk of chronic inflammatory barrier diseases, such as Crohn's disease and sarcoidosis. There is also variable expression in cancer tissues and a possible, but unconfirmed, link to cell proliferation. No confirmed direct protein-protein interactions, drug interactions, or clinical biomarkers have been identified to date.
