Chromosome 19 open reading frame 70 pseudogene (ENSG00000263017) is a nonfunctional genomic sequence located on human chromosome 19 that has lost the ability to encode a protein. It originated via retrotransposition, producing a DNA copy of an mRNA that was inserted into the genome without functional regulatory elements, resulting in an "inactive" sequence that resembles a gene but does not produce a functional product[1][2][3][4]. Pseudogenes are distinguished from protein-coding genes by the presence of disabling mutations, lack of introns, and typically lack regulatory regions required for transcription. Most pseudogenes do not have significant biological function, although some may be transcribed at low levels and very rarely influence gene regulation. This locus is not considered a therapeutic target or biomarker, and no disease association, interacting drugs, or safety concerns are established[1][2][4].
