Overview

Chromosome 5 open reading frame 52 (C5orf52) encodes an uncharacterized protein (A6NGY3). The gene is located on chromosome 5q33.3, encompasses three exons, and produces a 159–amino acid protein (17.9 kDa) with no identifiable transmembrane domains or signal peptides. The protein is predicted to be localized in the cytoplasm and is slightly serine-rich at the N-terminus. Its exact biological function is not known, though it is highly expressed in testis, suggesting a potential specialized role in male reproductive biology (spermatogenesis).
