Chromosome 6 open reading frame 108 pseudogene (C6orf108 pseudogene, ENSG00000227370) is a nonfunctional segment of DNA on human chromosome 6 that resembles a protein-coding gene but has lost its ability to code for a functional protein. Pseudogenes such as C6orf108 typically result from gene duplication or retrotransposition events, and in most cases are not transcribed or translated into proteins. While some pseudogenes can exert regulatory effects or produce noncoding RNAs, there is currently no evidence that C6orf108 pseudogene has any functional role in human biology. This gene is not recognized as a therapeutic target for any disease or drug action, and has no known role in disease or biomarker utility.
