Overview

Chromosome 6 open reading frame 15 (C6orf15) encodes a secreted protein primarily localized in the extracellular matrix and is predicted to participate in extracellular matrix composition and remodeling, potentially through its binding affinity for collagen V, fibronectin, and glycosaminoglycans[2][3]. Although its precise physiological function remains uncharacterized, recent research implicates C6orf15 in colorectal cancer progression, where its upregulation promotes epithelial–mesenchymal transition, increases cell invasiveness, and modulates fatty acid metabolism, likely via activation of the WNT/β-catenin signaling pathway[2]. It has been suggested as a biomarker for liver metastasis in colorectal cancer and is also associated with several autoimmune and skin disorders, but there are no approved drugs or targeted therapies for C6orf15 at this time[2][3][4].
