Overview

C6orf62 (Chromosome 6 open reading frame 62) encodes an uncharacterized cytosolic protein of 229 amino acids, with multiple transcript variants[1][7]. It contains a domain of unknown function (DUF4566) and is not associated with any well-defined protein family. Its protein abundance is low and expression is generally broad but higher in gallbladder and testis[1]. C6orf62 has been implicated through genetic linkage or proximity in neurodevelopmental disorders such as reading disability and language impairment, possibly due to linkage disequilibrium with neighboring genes like KIAA0319 rather than a direct pathogenic role[3]. Its differential expression in breast cancer cells treated with bromelain suggests a role in cellular stress responses, though its function remains unclear and it is not established as a therapeutic target. There are no known or reported small molecules or biological drugs that interact with C6orf62, and no established use in clinical biomarker panels or as a therapeutic target[1][3][7].
