Target intelligence / Profile preview
Chromosome 8 open reading frame 46 pseudogene (ENSG00000270255) is a nonfunctional segment of DNA located on human chromosome 8 that resembles a protein-coding gene but has lost its gene function through the accumulation of disabling mutations. Pseudogenes like this do not produce functional proteins, may lack regulatory elements required for normal expression, and are generally considered genomic "fossils". While some pseudogenes can be transcribed, or may have roles as regulatory RNA, there is no evidence that this specific pseudogene represents a functional protein, a drug target, a receptor, an enzyme, a transporter, or a biomarker for any known disease in humans. It should not be treated as an actionable drug target.
