Target intelligence / Profile preview
Chromosome 8 open reading frame 48 protein (C8orf48) is a conserved nuclear protein with predicted nuclear localization signals and no transmembrane or signal peptides. It is involved in regulation of the cell cycle and tumor suppressor proteins and interacts with several transcription factors and proteins associated with cellular growth, proliferation, and inflammatory response. C8orf48 expression is altered in some cancers (breast, thyroid) and disease states (endometriosis), suggesting possible roles in disease etiology or progression, but its molecular function, clinical relevance, or suitability as a therapeutic target remains uncharacterized.
