Target intelligence / Profile preview
Chromosome X open reading frame 51A (CXorf51A) is a protein of 108 amino acids, encoded by the *CXorf51A* gene on chromosome Xq27.3. It is classified as an intrinsically disordered protein based on bioinformatics and NMR studies, lacking significant secondary structure under physiological-like buffer conditions. Its biological role remains uncharacterized, but it is conserved among eutherian mammals, especially primates, suggesting potential but as-yet-unknown importance. It is expressed at notable levels mainly in prostate and T-cells. CXorf51A may undergo phosphorylation at various serine/threonine sites, implying possible regulation by kinases; however, no known drugs interact with this protein, and it is not regarded as a drug target or biomarker. Its only documented disease association to date comes from transcriptome studies linking it to patent ductus arteriosus, though its mechanistic role is unknown. No known involvement in major signaling pathways, cellular functions, or as a direct disease driver. No known interacting drugs or therapeutic relevance at this time. Typical function, structure, and interaction partners are uncharacterized, but its sequence hints at possible nucleic acid binding capabilities, which remains speculative.
