Chromosome X open reading frame 66 (CXorf66)

Target
CXorf66
Molecular classification
Other (Uncharacterized protein), Type I transmembrane protein (predicted), Mammalian-specific protein family
01

Overview

Chromosome X open reading frame 66 (CXorf66, SGPX) encodes an uncharacterized human protein predicted to be a type I transmembrane glycoprotein. It is serine- and lysine-rich, with multiple predicted post-translational modifications (signal peptide, glycosylation, phosphorylation, sumoylation). CXorf66 is primarily expressed in testis and serum, and has been upregulated in several cancers (brain, lung, and leukemias), with downregulated expression seen in liver and prostate cancers. It is genomically located at Xq27.1, in proximity to SOX3, and may be implicated by association in aspects of sex determination and non-syndromic X-linked intellectual disability. CXorf66 has no confirmed biological function or interacting drugs and is not currently considered a therapeutic or pharmacological target
