Overview

CHUK-DT (CHUK divergent transcript) is a long non-coding RNA arising from the genomic region immediately upstream (in the divergent orientation) to the CHUK (also known as IKKα) gene. Divergent non-coding transcripts such as CHUK-DT are generated from the opposite strand relative to a protein-coding gene promoter and are a widespread feature of mammalian gene regulation, often associated with promoters of genes involved in transcriptional regulation and development[3][4][5]. These divergent RNAs generally do not encode proteins and their precise biological roles remain poorly understood; in many cases, they may participate in local chromatin modification or transcriptional regulation, but CHUK-DT itself has not been firmly linked to any disease or functional process.
