Cilia and flagella associated protein 100 (CFAP100)

Target
CFAP100
Molecular classification
Other, Microtubule-associated protein

Overview

Cilia and flagella associated protein 100 (CFAP100) is a microtubule-associated protein that plays a key role in ciliary and flagellar motility, primarily by regulating the assembly and activity of the axonemal inner dynein arm[3][5]. It is also essential for the integrity of spindle pole structures during keratinocyte mitosis, working through the recruitment of tubulin tyrosine ligase-like protein 13 (TTLL13) to increase glutamylation of spindle microtubules[2]. CFAP100 depletion in mice leads to abnormal epidermal development, defective cell division, and impaired skin barrier function[2]. While mutations in the related family of cilia-associated proteins can lead to ciliopathies (such as inherited retinal dystrophy), direct links to human diseases for CFAP100 remain under investigation[2][3]. Currently, CFAP100 is not a recognized therapeutic target and has no established interacting drugs or biomarker role[3][5].
